In his more than 30-year career at SeaWorld, Craig Hill has been involved in the building of animal exhibits large and small -- in all four SeaWorld parks.
He created the artificial ice edge in SeaWorld's first Penguin Encounter, considered in 1983 to be one of the most advanced zoological exhibits ever built. Early on he was involved in molding and producing large amounts of artificial corals for aquariums and has participated in the construction of numerous reef environments. Craig also is recognized for his extensive work in both carved and molded artificial rock.
These days, most major zoological exhibit design and construction is contracted to large national firms. But not all exhibits are large enough to warrant that kind of expense. Craig Hill Studios can create and build those smaller exhibits -- everything from an insect or reptile environment to a small to mid-size aquarium, aviary, touch tank or educational kiosk and more.
In addition to creating attractive, value-minded exhibits, Craig brings his biological training to bear, assuring that the natural history and health of the animals are foremost considerations. But Craig also addresses "keeper comforts," creating exhibits that don't add more challenges to keepers' already demanding jobs.
Animals and the elements take their toll on even the finest zoological environments. Repair and updating often are the answer when a new exhibit is neither necessary nor in the budget. More than a Band-Aid but less than an extreme makeover, Craig specializes in bringing tired exhibits back to life. It may be as simple as a new coat of paint on faded artificial rock. Or, it could be the addition of new elements to give an exhibit an updated look. Craig will work with you to determine the most effective and efficient way to put your exhibit in prime condition.
